Unlike the early morning treks, this tour allows you to soak in the stunning views of Mount Batur without the need to wake up at dawn. Starting in the afternoon, you’ll embark on an exhilarating journey to explore the active volcano, its surrounding black sand, and lava fields—all from the comfort of a 4WD Jeep.

Your adventure kicks off between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM, giving you plenty of time to prepare for an unforgettable sunset experience. Upon arrival at our base camp, you’ll be greeted by our experienced guides who will provide a brief orientation before you set off on your sunset expedition. If you’ve chosen the package without hotel transfer, you can meet us directly at the base camp at 3:30 PM.

Highlight Description

The journey begins at around 3:45 PM as your professional Jeep driver navigates the rugged terrain of Mount Batur. The first stop is the sunrise point, located 1,400 meters above sea level, where you’ll be treated to panoramic views of Lake Batur, the vast Batur Caldera, and the majestic Mount Agung. As you pass through local farms, you’ll get a glimpse of the traditional Balinese agricultural life.

Next, you’ll descend to explore the black lava field and black sand, remnants of the powerful volcanic eruptions of 1926 and 1963. As the sun begins to set, your guide will take you to the best vantage point, where you can enjoy a short walk to witness the breathtaking sunset. From here, you’ll have a clear view of the black lava, black sand, and the stunning landscape surrounding Mount Batur.

As the evening progresses, you’ll slowly make your way back down, taking in the serene countryside as day turns to night. You’ll then return to the base camp and be safely transported back to your accommodation, completing your unforgettable Mount Batur Sunset Jeep Adventure.

Itinerary

12:00 – 1:30 PM: Pickup from your hotel, villa, or guest house (depending on location).
2:30 PM: Optional visit to a coffee plantation en route to Mount Batur.
3:30 PM: Arrival at the base camp, followed by a brief introduction and safety briefing.
3:45 PM: Start the Jeep adventure to the sunrise point, followed by exploration of the black lava and black sand areas.
5:15 PM: Arrive at the black sand area and enjoy a 15-minute walk to the best sunset viewing point.
6:00 PM: Witness the sunset and enjoy the surrounding views.
6:15 PM: Begin the journey back to the base camp, enjoying the transition from day to night in the Balinese countryside.
7:30 – 8:30 PM: Estimated time of arrival back at your hotel.
